Classic Football Shirts has cut packing times from minutes to seconds with new automation at its warehouse. The £30m retailer, which ships to fans in more than 130 countries, has teamed up with Manchester tech firm Shipster to integrate a Logopak automated packing and labelling system.

Shipster’s software supplies shipment and label data to the automated system, which prints and applies shipping labels as part of the packing process, reducing the time needed to prepare orders for dispatch. The latest investment builds on a five-year technology partnership between the two businesses, which has helped Classic Football Shirts more than triple warehouse productivity, enabling staff to process hundreds more orders every day.

The system faced its biggest test during the FIFA World Cup, when Classic Football Shirts recorded the busiest-ever period in its 20-year history. Orders dispatched across June and July rose 101 per cent compared with the same period in 2025, with almost two-thirds (64%) of orders automatically packed during the tournament. Founded in 2006 by friends Matt Dale and Douglas Bierton, Classic Football Shirts has grown from a student-house startup into a global ecommerce business, managing more than one million individual authenticated football shirts and memorabilia items. Brandon Evans, Outbound Operations Manager at Classic Football Shirts, said: “Without the automation and flexibility we’ve built into the operation with Shipster, we simply wouldn’t have been able to dispatch anywhere near the volume of orders we achieved and still maintain the speed and service our customers expect.” www.shipstersolutions.com
