Cobots can work safely alongside human workers


standardised, and prebuilt robot interfaces have reduced the engineering overhead that automation once carried. This is key because manufacturers often hesitate not only over cost, but over how difficult automation may be to deploy and support. If deployment feels highly specialised and long-term support feels fragmented, manufacturers delay action even when the business case is sound.


Building capability


It also changes how automation can enter the factory. Not every manufacturer needs to jump straight to a fully automated end state. In many cases, the more realistic route starts with a manual or semi-automated process and builds capability over time. A line may begin with the tooling itself, then add screw feeding, 3D vision or data analytics as requirements mature. That is what scalable automation looks like in practice: a production system that can take on more variation, control and visibility over time.


Delivering value as the factory evolves In sectors such as battery assembly, automotive and aerospace, this kind of staged rollout makes it much easier to extend automation without rebuilding the whole line.
