ASSET MANAGEMENT ORY ISSUES

area of production. This allows for a straight- forward and fast assessment of all vulnerabilities present in the industrial network and in specific devices (Fig. 4). As Weckerle explained: “Within a few

minutes, the maintenance engineer receives a risk score analysis. They have access to an extensive library of insecure protocols, misconfigurations, and other security vulnerabilities, which they can then use to initiate the appropriate measures in a quick and targeted manner. This automatic assessment of all vulnerabilities allows for appropriate interventions to be undertaken, and ensures reliable and safe production.” Only those who know their manufacturing

environment – or to be more precise, their inventory – can prevent problems in a targeted manner and intervene quickly at the right place in the event of an emergency. A centralised inventory list, coupled with the right analysis tools, provides an invaluable overview. As Weckerle emphasised: “Documentation that is kept up-to-date in this way drastically increases the safety and security of a production environment.

Increased safety comes from knowing the status of all assets, being able to keep them up-to-date, and including them in the disaster recovery plan. Our automated CVE assessment, which helps to uncover previously unrecorded assets, helps to increase security, and safeguards against external attacks. Up-to-date documentation is therefore an essential prerequisite for operating assets securely.” The Asset Inventory Service increases the

efficiency of production environments, namely by centralising asset access, management, and reporting. It also provides vulnerability and risk assessment. Reduced manual effort and simplified reporting frees up plant support staff, allowing them to concentrate on the essentials. Thus the Asset Inventory Service add-on is an acquisition that will soon decrease costs, increase product quality, and make your overall production safer
