Kistler maXYmos provides quality assurance for medical device manufacturers
Wieland’s new HMI ECO touch panels - essential
for machines and systems W
ieland’s new HMI ECO touch panels have become essential for machines and systems in their use for
visualisation, operation, and diagnostics. When used in conjunction with the samos® PRO safety controller they offer complete automation, including seamless data exchange between the visualisation software hmiPLAN and the planning software samos® PLAN6. The unit offers flexible communication and seamless integration with over 40 different PLC and device manufacturers, including convenient data exchange of export and import functions. This robust IP66 display is easily programmed via an
Ethernet or USB client, while commissioning is quick having only one project file, which is easily converted to suit each screen size. Designed for industrial environments, HMI ECO touch panels have an extended temperature range from -10°C to 60°C on standard panels with -20°C to 60°C supplied on request. Wieland’s HMI ECO touch panels also offer VNC (virtual
network computing) functionality and comfortable operation via smartphones and tablets, further offering superb flexibility in the control and monitoring of machines, while enabling authentication of users to provide security. As part of Wielands “MyLogo” campaign a customised
design with your own logo and individual colour scheme is available.

he Kistler maXYmos TL ML is the first process monitoring system to meet the strict FDA and MDR regulatory requirements for quality assurance in
the medtech sector. The new monitoring system can deliver 100 per cent testing; a critical requirement for manufacturers operating in environments where pharmaceutical goods and medtech equipment are produced. The new maXYmos TL ML, based on the tried-and-tested maXYmos
system, can be easily qualified and validated for integration into existing quality management systems. Process monitoring systems play an increasingly important part in quality assurance on automated production
lines. Medical device manufacturers must demonstrate that their products meet the requirements for safety and quality and provide proof of the reliability and precision of quality assurance monitoring not only throughout their own manufacturing process but also that of their suppliers.

New generation of modular connectors from Stäubli cuts assembly and maintenance costs
D
esigned to cut assembly and maintenance costs to the minimum, the new CombiTac direqt family of modular connectors introduced
by Stäubli features a Click-and-Connect system that enables all parts to be quickly assembled manually without the use of any special tools. With a light, modern design incorporating the highest level of safety
features, they can be fully customised to meet customer requirements. Each carrier and frame is coded, eliminating any possibility of assembly error or incorrect polarity mating between male and female connectors.
All configurations, whether for panel mount or housing applications, ensure a constant and reliable connection
for signals, power and pneumatic coupling for up to 10 000 mating cycles. Throughout this life cycle, the quality of the contacts remains at the highest possible level, providing constant low contact resistance and stable performance even in the presence of shock and vibration.

he NSK Verify mobile app has been upgraded to include the company’s range of general, giant and extra-giant bearings for industrial applications. When first launched, the NSK Verify
bearing authentication app initially focused on the company’s super precision bearings, which are designed for use in machine tools. Extending the free app to further product lines will bring more efficient operations and IT-based plant management to wider industry.
NSK Verify provides product authenticity information by reading the 2D barcode printed on
each bearing box and checking it against the NSK database. Factors such as authenticity and traceability are vital in an era when fake bearings remain prevalent, despite a considerable amount of NSK resources being engaged in the identification and prosecution of counterfeiters.
With respect to general bearings, NSK Verify now includes the company’s large size tapered
roller bearings and large size cylindrical roller bearings. Giant bearings also feature in the upgraded app, including spherical roller bearings, ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, thrust bearings and giant bearing parts. In addition, users of extra-giant bearings will find these products supported by NSK Verify.
Upon reading the 2D code, NSK Verify not only establishes the authenticity of the bearing, but
checks the number of access attempts by product ID, the individual identification number and – for general bearings – the 20 digit product number. In addition – for super precision bearings – inspection information is offered, including dimensional tolerances, running accuracy and grease type. Using NSK Verify, convenient links are also provided to product data, catalogues and industry-specific information to help simplify the design integration process.
The app works with all Japanese-manufactured NSK bearings featuring an ‘N’ symbol in the
lower right corner of the 2D code on the packing label of the box – the print run for which commenced in 2018. Trying to use NSK Verify on older bearings will result in a failure message.
Users who installed the previous version of NSK Verify will be notified automatically when the latest version has been launched.
The app is available as a free download from the Apple store (for iOS users) and Google Play (for Android).
