THERMOELECTRIC MODULES Laird has expanded its thermoelectric
module (TEM) product family to protect
critical electronic devices in emerging applications found in high temperature environments. This typically occurs in outdoor environments where heat generated from surrounding electronics exceeds the
temperature of sensitive electronics with maximum operating temperatures of 60-70˚C. The HiTemp ET
Series delivers spot cooling to ensure the maximum temperature of the device is not exceeded in ambient environments. There are 53 models for engineers to choose from with a
wide range of heat pumping capacities, geometric form factors and input voltages. These maintain a high coefficient of performance (COP) to allow for maximum heat rejection into the air environment, even with poor heat sinking.

Now available from Gresham Power Electronics are two series of high reliability VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid) batteries from Yuasa. VRLA batteries – commonly known as sealed or
maintenance-free lead-acid rechargeable batteries – can be mounted in any orientation. The Endurance Range offers
two, four and six Volt outputs rated from 80Ah to 540Ah. This is suitable for all standby applications including telecommunications, UPS and emergency lighting. The ENL range is suited to general use and has a 15 year design life in standby conditions. The EN series provides high rate discharge performance and a long life of over 12 years.

SINGLE-PHASE POWER SUPPLIES
PULS Power’s PIANO PIC series are single-phase input power supplies with outputs of 24V at 5A, 10A or 20A, providing a power range of 120W, 240W or 480W. This application-oriented 24V range is designed to ensure customers get exactly what they need for their application with no cost intensive extra features. Of benefit, very high efficiencies (90.5
to 95.7% at full load) lower the heat losses and reduce energy costs for system cooling. The series, which offers MTBF values of up to 1.72 million hours, is equipped with a DC-OK LED and provides a DC-OK signal via a floating relay contact (except PIC120.242C). Light in weight, these can withstand
powerful input transients up to 230% of the nominal input voltage, assuring robustness over the entire load range. In addition, the clean PCB design and high- grade housing make the series resistant to mechanical shock and vibration.

extremely low power consumption of the devices allows placement closer to high- power components. The devices also support the upcoming 25G Extended Data Rate Cache Coherent Interconnect for Accelerators (CCIX) clocking standard. These are supported by the 9FGV100x
PhiClock PCIe evaluation boards, which enable engineers to conveniently configure and program blank parts of the clock generators for design prototyping.

POWER MODULES FOR UPS AND THREE-PHASE SOLAR APPLICATIONS
Vincotech has launched the flowNPC 0 line of neutral-point-clamped power modules. Featuring the latest IGBT technologies
in a combination engineered to optimise cost and efficiency for three-phase solar and UPS applications, these are rated for 650V/100A and deliver switching frequencies up to 50kHz, even without SiC technology. According to the company, the chipset has been optimised to deliver the best performance at real power, yet they retain high reactive power capability. This enables engineers to craft lighter, more compact, designs for three-phase solar and UPS applications. The ability of real multiple chip sourcing improves component supply security. In addition, both modules are available
with Press-fit and solder pins. Samples are available on request.

The compact, high performance, low power, 9FGV100x programmable PhiClock generator family of devices from Integrated Device Technology (IDT) is now available from Mouser Electronics. These are suitable for next-generation data centre and networking designs based on PCIe Gen4 and future Gen5 requirements. The 9FGV100x family is said to provide
outstanding PCIe Gen4 performance along with exceptional Ethernet performance with phase jitter as low as 225 fs RMS at 156.25 MHz (12 kHz–20 MHz). The
Ultralife offers a diverse portfolio of batteries to meet the needs of today’s modern military equipment. Now, the company has further developed its family of XX90 batteries, which have the capability of powering over 100 different applications including radios, robots and sensors. The XX90 range includes the
UBI-2590 rechargeable batteries like the UBBL10-01 and UBBL02-01, as well as the UB0023, UB0031 and UB0032 non-rechargeable batteries, chargers, adapters and universal cables. The non-rechargeable range is said to offer at least 50% more capacity than the lithium sulfur dioxide batteries that are still widely used by the military today. The UBBL10-01 includes Ultralife’s
SmartCircuit technology, which allows compatible devices and accessories to communicate with the battery. This is done through its SMBus v1.1 compliant interface and makes it ideal for use in applications that require remote monitoring of critical battery information from a host device. Commercially labelled versions of the UBI-2590 batteries are also available.

MINIATURISED IGBT POWER INTERFACES
New from HARTING are miniaturised power interfaces with integrated electro-optical conversion which enable users to combined electrical connectivity and optical transmission in the same module. These are designed for use with
powerful electric drives controlled by IGBT semiconductor elements. To achieve the necessary galvanic isolation between the controller and driver board, data is transferred via fibre-optic cable. Electric motors with more than 500kW output use IGBT semiconductors for speed regulation, and these can switch large loads using very low control power. Since insulation and voltage requirements are very high, plastic optical fibres (POF) transmit the signals required for IGBT control. In order to simplify the connection of POF fibres, and save space on the controller board, HARTING has integrated the electro- optical conversion process into application-specific connectors. For traction control on trains, a solution for up to 16 optical
channels is available in a DIN D20 metal housing. In harsh industrial environments, a Han 10A housing variant with IP65/67 protection offers up to eight channels. The range is completed by a pluggable 8-channel module for direct connection to the circuit board in the switch cabinet.
