Advertorial WHAT’S NEW SPONSORED BY Free pipework training

ISPA (Building and Industrial Services Pipework Academy) was established to raise the awareness of pipeworkrelated installation issues, specifications, innovations and BIM, through CIBSE accredited training courses and workshops. As the majority of building services projects are still making reference to old,

withdrawn, legacy pipework specifications, there is a significant risk of poor quality, noncompliant products being used. If not properly controlled, such legacy specifications can also become embedded within BIM files. To highlight such pipework issues and advise on suitable solutions, BISPA now offers a

range of free pipework awareness courses and specification review services. With locations throughout the country, and with the opening of our new dedicated

training pod at the Building Centre, London, it’s easy to access our range of specially developed CPD’s. Alternatively, we can come to you. Courses are supported by the experts from Tata Steel, Loughborough and

Cranfield Universities. Please visit our website to learn more about BISPA and how we can support you and the building and industrial services industry.

needing no direct IP connection and requiring improved, costeffective lighting comfort with no additional wiring.

T The module is easily integrated into existing

luminaires and establishes a mesh communication network automatically. Communication is wireless via Bluetooth 4.0. The module is fitted with a configurable 110V and DALI interface along with a switched relay contact, allowing dimming functions and colour temperature controls to be implemented. Luminaires are controlled via associated smart

button (user interface), or using the corresponding free apps on mobile terminals running Android or iOS operating systems. The preconfigured button for wall mounting works using batteries. Its eightbutton control panel is used to switch luminaires on and off or for the dimming functions. Light settings can be accessed and colour temperatures set. The luminaires are automatically scanned for and

detected using the apps. The intuitive interface allows users to set up groups of luminaires, create different light settings, implement Tunable White settings and define and control dimming levels. The wireless light control supports users with establishing and configuring the lighting control options, enhances lighting comfort and helps save energy.

A New modern press connection CPD from Viega

new Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

aimed at M&E professionals, facilities managers and architects, has been launched by Viega. The CPD explores modern press connection technology in relation to effectively delivering potable water to new and existing buildings. Clean drinking water and water classed

as potable is a requirement for maintaining the health of building occupants. In the UK, system designs must comply with the minimum requirements set out by British Standards, Building Regulations (Building Standards in Scotland), the Water Supply Regulations 1999 and the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000. As well as giving an overview of what is

meant by potable water and the framework around it, the CPD looks at various elements, which can be a contributor to contamination such as storage and assembly in addition to

pipe material and connection systems. The presentation then looks at press connection technology and its advantages for use with potablewater supply pipework. Scott James, Director at Viega comments,

“This CPD gives a great insight into potable water and the regulations governing it while exploring the key factors that influence the successful supply of potable water to buildings. As a manufacturer of press connection technology including Profipress and Sanpress, we can give a great insight into how this technology can help.” To find out more about Viega’s CPDs visit:

Remote Optimal – changing the way we think about energy

create an interior for a contemporary hotel with an individual design, tailored for the German market. The multi purpose, ground floor communal area was designed to create a welcoming space with specific zones, separated by open shelves and decorated in bold colours, where guests can relax, dine or work in a peaceful atmosphere. The lighting was instrumental

in creating a unique ambience in each area; bright in the work space to warm and inviting in the lounge and dining areas.

Super slimline Fantile launched by AET Flexible Space

A

ET Flexible Space, leading provider of underfloor air

conditioning systems has just released the latest version of their market leading recessed fan air terminal, or Fantile. The new super slimline TU350 Fantile is similar to the existing TUS Fantile, with an equivalent unit height of just 150mm, but the new model has superior performance, achieving higher airflow capacity with reduced noise levels. The slimline Fantile was specially designed for developers seeking to maximise revenue. By removing services from the ceiling void and utilising the space beneath the raised floor as the ventilation zone, height savings of around 450600mm per floor can be achieved when compared to conventional overhead systems. This space saving across an entire development can potentially allow additional floors, increasing net lettable space and therefore

increased revenue. Alternatively, height restricted developments can increase floor to ceiling heights to BCO recommended standards by reclaiming this wasted space in the ceiling zone, thereby increasing rentable value considerably when compared with ceiling based systems. Based on standard design

criteria of an underfloor pressure of 1520 Pa and 50% fan speed, the TU350 super slimline Fantile can achieve airflow performance of 300m3/h at NR 37, below the BCO recommendation of NR 38.
