PRESIDENT PLEDGES RETURN TO WORLD STAGE C
ontrol Techniques’ new president has spoken of his desire to see the Welsh company return to the top table of drives manufacturers. Anthony Pickering, who brings with him 30 years of experience in variable speed drives, was named president in December last year. He says: “Control Techniques’
heritage in the drives market is well known. If you look at the history of drives, Control Techniques was the first to market with so many things
we take for granted now. “We have ambitious plans. We have a great range of products and we need to get that message across loud and clear. I bring the expertise of almost 30 years in the market, working at a high level, so I understand the tactics of the market and the needs of the customer.” Pickering joined almost a year
after Control Techniques was acquired by Japan’s Nidec group of companies. He says: “Country of
origin is becoming more of a differentiator. With that in mind we need to build on our British heritage. It’s a huge plus for us. The drives are designed, tested and manufactured in the UK. Our expert teams offer fantastic technical support from the UK. We are the last major British drives manufacturer and with the backing of Nidec, the world's largest manufacturer of motors, we can build from a solid base. It’s a marriage made in heaven.”
FIFTY YEARS OF TURNING IDEAS INTO ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS R
. A. Rodriguez celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of its
founding this year. It is a company that, to this day, remains focused on supplying precision engineering components to UK and European manufacturers but one that has also kept a keen eye on emerging technologies. This diligence ultimately led to the creation of RARUK Automation in 2016, a new sister company that concentrates on robotics and automation.
From the start, R. A. Rodriguez has chosen products with a unique edge and underpinned this with quality technical advice and applications support. One of its most important relationships is with Kaydon - now an SKF Group brand. It was central to the establishment of R. A. Rodriguez in the UK in 1968 and the enduring success of this partnership has led the company to represent Kaydon interests in wider Europe, with
Turkey now a significant market for both companies. “This is an important year for R.
A. Rodriguez and not just because we have reached this milestone,” MD Peter Williamson concludes. “We have just opened a new, dedicated demonstration facility for RARUK Automation in a separate factory unit close to our current premises.”
