CSL CELEBRATES RECORD 20 YEARS IN BUSINESS M

ay of this year was a milestone month for Conveyor Systems Ltd (CSL), reaching 20 years of successful trading and also its largest ever single order in excess of £1.7 million. Founded from home in 1997 by conveyor

automation expert and current MD, Steve Graham, CSL has experienced continuous controlled growth with a staff increase and doubling of current office space earlier this year in response to business expansion. A further milestone achieved this year was the installation of the 100th spiral elevator/lowerator in the UK used principally for either multi-floor access or simply to free up floor space by conveying overhead.

The company’s success has been helped in no small

way by accolades gained over the years, which have been awarded against fierce competition for the coveted title of Excellence in Customer Service, from the PPMA. These awards are highly prized and give confidence to prospective customers that they are dealing with a reliable and efficient company. Large on-going investments continue in IT systems,

including state-of-the-art 3D software packages to enable clients to visualise a ‘walk-through’ and real world simulations of their conveyor system. With several large projects underway for 2017-18, CSL’s success looks set to continue.

SAFETY & HEALTH EXPO HAILED A BIG SUCCESS

The Safety & Health Expo event, which took place at the end of June, has experienced another successful instalment after attracting over 13,900 attendees to ExCeL London. The event attracted visitors from

64 different countries, with 49 per cent responsible for a health and safety budget of over £100,000. As well as this, the Professional

Clothing Show featuring the work wear, corporate wear, uniform and PPE Fashion Show created a buzz and brought real energy to Safety & Health Expo with its new home at the front of the show. The event also struck a more

poignant note as calls were made for building regulations to be reassessed as part of the inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire. In an emotional debate, which began with a one- minute silence to commemorate the victims, Dennis Davis of the Fire Sector Federation (FSF) said the industry was ‘creating the legacy for the next 50 years’ following the Grenfell tower fire. On day two the most influential in

health and safety were recognised with awards presentations. The Inspirational Speaker series returned this year as double Olympic gold medallist, Dame Kelly Holmes

JUNGHEINRICH CELEBRATES 50 YEARS PRODUCTION IN NORDERSTEDT

ne of the most important parts of the production process has to be the stage at which goods are packaged up and sent out the door. In most cases, the next person to see the product - whether it’s been boxed, wrapped or lifted onto a truck - is the customer. This issue looks at how packaging efficiency can be improved, in terms of saving time and money on the factory floor but while also presenting the customer with a neat, fresh and undamaged product that is fit for use. Another area to look at is the use of labelling and barcoding equipment to ensure goods are tracked and sent to the correct places; mis- delivered items can be a nightmare for everyone involved.
