INFOTAINMENT REVOLUTION

COMPACT PACESETTER

This is the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class – a model that sets a new benchmark for luxury, refinement and advanced technology in the prestige compact car sector. The new, fourth generation A-Class features sharper styling, a high-tech cabin and sees the debut of the revolutionary multimedia system called MBUX – see our Infotainment Revolution story on this page. For the first time the A-Class is able to drive semi-autonomously and with length, height and width all increased, it also offers greater practicality. During development, particular attention was paid to reducing road roar and interior noise levels to deliver a premium driving experience. Initially, UK drivers will be able to choose from three engine variants, two petrol and one diesel and from two suspension systems. The A-Class is available to order now in the UK with first deliveries due in June. Prices will start from £25,800 on the road for the A 180 d SE auto. The new A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz to feature the pioneering MBUX infotainment system with technology based on artificial intelligence. Through always-listening voice controls, touch screen, touchpad or touch buttons if you prefer, drivers can control navigation, music, radio and cabin comfort features. MBUX stands for Mercedes-Benz User Experience and offers screen graphics that set new standards in the automotive sector. Even user guide features are displayed using an image of the vehicle which you can spin 360 degrees with your fingertip. The system is so clever it can even learn your preferences – cabin settings and temperature, music choices, media, radio station and destinations – delivering them through a fast and easy “suggestions” shortcut. What’s more, you can change the entire look of the dashboard instruments through a series of themed options from Standard and Classic to Sport and Understated.

CAMPER VAN WITH THE X FACTOR

The new Mercedes-Benz X-Class is already the world’s first premium pickup, and as this concept model underlines, it also has true recreational potential. German bodybuilder Tischer showed this X-Class camper van concept at this year’s CMT Show in Stuttgart. With its strong off-road ability and exemplary safety features, the X-Class is ideally suited for the role and

demounting the camper van section is easy, leaving the pickup available for everyday use. Despite its compact size, the Tischer camper van offers a comfortable sleeping area with almost two metres of headroom, a kitchen with a three-burner gas stove and foldaway sink, comfy seating for three and an integrated bathroom with enough space for a shower.
