Vido’s journey from professional skiing to hard tech- no is nothing short of remarkable. His story is one of transformation, resilience, and an unrelenting passion for creating something that resonates deeply with himself and his audience. As we finished our conver- sations, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the way he has navigated such distinct worlds with grace and de- termination.
His connection to the adrenaline and creativity of ski- ing seamlessly translates into his music, where he ex- plores intensity and emotion in equal measure. Vido’s grounded personality, paired with his willingness to take risks, makes him a unique voice in the fast-evol- ving world of hard techno.
What I admire most is his focus on creating connec- tions—whether it’s through his music, his live perfor- mances, or his collaborations with other artists. He doesn’t just see music as entertainment but as a tool for liberation and shared experiences, aiming to give his audience the same sense of exhilaration he feels when he performs. Vido’s emphasis on self-awareness and balance also shows a rare maturity, reminding us that even in high-energy environments like the elec- tronic music scene, sustainability matters. In a world that often rewards quick success over substance, Vi- do’s perspective and work ethic are both refreshing and inspiring.
The transition from professional skiing to music pro- duction is not something you hear about every day. For Vido, however, this shift was a natural evolution sha- ped by both external events and internal reflection. As he explained,
“I started skiing at three and stuck with it up until a couple of years ago. For a long time, I thought my path would be in Freeride skiing. It’s a wild, dangerous disci- pline, and unfortunately, I lost some friends to it, while others suffered serious injuries. Those moments forced me to stop and think about whether risking my health or life to compete in the World Cup was worth it.”
His decision to leave such a dangerous sport behind must have been agonizing, but it also demonstrates his ability to listen to his instincts and prioritize his we- ll-being.
The parallels he draws between skiing and music are profound. Freeride skiing, with its emphasis on creati- vity and risk, shaped his artistic mindset. As Vido said,
“In freeride, there’s a strong creative process: you de- sign your line and bring excitement (the chaos!) with kicks. It’s very similar to the creative process in produc- tion if you think about it! At the end of the day, I chan- nel the same energy I put into one art into another.”
This insight captures the heart of his creative philoso- phy—an embrace of chaos balanced with discipline, a blend that undoubtedly fuels his hard techno produc- tions.
When Vido talks about the adrenaline rush of perfor- ming, it’s clear that he’s found a way to recreate the thrill he once experienced on the slopes.
“This might actually be why I’m in Hard Techno—when you’re playing a genre that is so intense and fast-pa- ced, you can truly feel the adrenaline building. That rush brings a sense of freedom, and it’s a feeling I’m always chasing when I perform live. But more than that, it’s the feeling I’m hoping to share with others.” His words re- sonate because they reveal the deeper purpose behind his work: to create a shared experience of liberation and exhilaration.
Another aspect of Vido’s journey that struck me was his emphasis on self-awareness and recovery. Drawing from his sports background, he understands the im- portance of mental and physical health in sustaining a music career. He shared,
“When performing, I use some of the same stress-redu- cing techniques I’d use before a big competition to stay calm and let go. When I’m deep into music production, I make it a point to take small breaks to clear my head. It’s all about finding that perfect balance. Taking those moments to step away really makes a difference!”
This pragmatic approach is a reminder that even in the creative field, discipline and self-care are essential for longevity.
Vido’s respect for the legacy of French electronic mu- sic, particularly the French Touch movement, adds another layer to his artistry. He acknowledges how artists like Daft Punk and Laurent Garnier shaped his sound, saying,
“I’ve been listening to House music, especially French Touch, since I was a kid. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been building connections in the French house mu- sic scene, and I’ve noticed that we always connect over this shared legacy—they’re like our founding fathers.”
It’s fascinating to see how these influences filter into his hard techno productions, particularly in his use of distortion to create a warm, emotional atmosphere. When asked about finding his voice in the fast-evol- ving hard techno scene, Vido offered a perspective that felt grounded and genuine.
“With so many new producers coming in from diffe- rent genres, they’re each bringing something unique to the scene. I think it’s great—it adds diversity and gives us all a wider range of sounds to play around with. For me, staying true to my voice is all about making trac- ks I love and knowing I’ll have an amazing time playing them at my next gig.”
This ability to embrace change while staying authentic to his own style is undoubtedly one of his strengths. Perhaps what resonated with me most was Vido’s desi- re to create music that connects on a deeper level.
“In every EP, I try to include at least one track that has that deeper, emotional vibe. I’m not interested in ma- king music people like for a few weeks before moving on to the next thing—I want to create something more sustainable. My dream goal is to produce a track that has the potential of becoming an anthem—something that makes people connect on a deeper level and break free from the noise of our lives.”
This sentiment is a testament to his integrity as an ar- tist and his commitment to creating meaningful mo- ments for his listeners.
