NKBA Design Competition Winners
We are pleased to announce The 2026
Design Competition award winners.
This competition recognizes the superior professionally designed work created by NKBA members of the California Capital Chapter. The competition is measured by:
Visual Appeal: This area considers the overall aesthetic appeal of the project.
Creativity: This area considers the use of innovative solutions, products, and materials.
Basic Safety and Ergonomics: This area considers the NKBA kitchen and bath planning guidelines.
Elements and Principles of Design: Elements include space, line, form and texture. Principles include balance, rhythm, emphasis, scale, proportion, harmony.
Presentation: This area considers the quality of floor plans, interpretive drawings, mechanical plans, and photographs.
All competition entrants have the chance to enter the National Competition as well. Congratulations to all who entered.

Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer® (CMKBD):

Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer® (AKBD):
Certified Kitchen and Bath Installer® (CKBI):
NKBA Certifications are globally recognized professional appellations created to instill deeper trust with clients. They remain a mark of excellence in the kitchen and bath industry.
A CMKBD is a program that recognizes noteworthy experience and achievements in the kitchen and bath industry, with a minimum 6 years in the industry.
Certified professional that specializes in the design, planning and execution of residential kitchens and bathrooms. Furthermore, Certified Kitchen and Bath Designers have extensive knowledge of building codes, appliances, and mechanical system, and draw plans that are easily interpreted by plumbers, electricians, and installers.
A certified professional with a minimum of two years of kitchen and bath experience, and is knowledgeable in safety, building codes, space planning, and product selection.
A certified professional and recognized expert in installation skills, safety awareness, customer relations and business management.
