, "He was only 22 when he died, and had already had a string of hit records and a number one in America and Britain with 'That'll be the D a / in 1957. "He would have been a true rock and roll mega-star."
Marc, who mirrors
Buddy with a masterfui performance, added: "Buddy is often described as the most influential of the early rock and roll musicians, and John Lennon and Paul McCartney of the Beatles said that his music was a great influence on their writing. "His music had a timeless feel
to it, and when we play the shows it is amazing how many young people come along who are discovering Budd/s music for the first time. 'The giri who runs the Buddy
Holiy fan ciub in England is just 23, and at one show last year a guy turned up with a photograph of him with Buddy
Holly when Buddy toured England shortly before he died. "We've got peopie of all generations who love the
music and what Buddy stood for." When he acquired the
tailor made Holly suits, huge homed rimmed giasses and of course the iegendary Fender Stratocaster guitar, Marc Robinson's Tribute to Buddy Holiy was born. Now he tours the nostalgic
tribute act aii over the world, and Marc added: "I loved rock ' and roll music at school, and Buddy Holly was one of my heroes. "His music was my hobby, and now I'm living the dream
singing his hits and helping to re-create that incredibie era. "It is a very exciting show
, and the audiences have been veiy eiithusiastic - if you love
' rock and roll, then you'll like this."
Marc, an accomplished actor,
appeared in the cuit sci-fi fiim '
the.Fifth Element, and on
"Eastenders", "Casualty" and "Dangerfield". One of his proudest
morinents, he said, was appearing at the London Palladium, where he followed in Budd/s footsteps. "Buddy played a Sunday
Night at the London Palladium in 1958, so to go there as Buddy and sing his hits was incredibly speciai. "We also did Giastonbuiy
- there was an awful lot of mud - but we got a great reception, and that was very special too." Buddy Holl/s Winter Dance

THE annual inter-school performing arts contest at The Grand reaches the second semi-final round tomorrow night when pupils from St Augustine's RC High School and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School take to the stage (doors 7 p.m). This follows a wonderful standard of
competition last Friday when students from Bowiand High and Ribblesdale High wowed the capacity audience with a brilliant show. Proceeds from the event are split between
three charities. The Solomon Project (which supports a feeding programme in Eldorest, Kenya), The MS Society and Make-A-Wish Foundation and has been sponsored by the- Co-Operative Bank. The acts that won through to the final
