DAVID Thacker’s production of Trevor Griffiths’play Comedi ans is challenging, gripping and: thought provoking. . The plot is set in real time and
follows the experiences of six hopeful stand-up comedians as they rehearse with their teacher, veteran comic Eddie Walters (Richard Moore) then perform their acts at a local club under the critical eye of an agent, Bert Challenor (John Branwell) and afterwards return to hear his views. However, the drama focuses
on more than just their routines. • It explores the nature of comedy, ■ what makes people laugh, even when it appals, and on therein- 3
