shown round the Hurst Green farm which is home to former Kibble. Valley Mayor Conn. Allan Ray, and during their visit burst into song, treating their hosts to two Russian ditties.
One of the visitors was
an exporter of vodka, so a quick trip to the award- winning wine cellars of D.
Byrne and Co., in Ring Street, Clitlieroe, was also on the agenda.

AT LONG last the future of the rail service, between Clitheroe Blackburn, appears to be on the right track.
After hearing that the
service should be resumed in May l!)i)l, Ribblc Valley Council’s Planning and Development Committee decided to take a strong land, supporting the
future of the line under any British Rail successor. Committee members
heard that while the Government White Paper on railways did not sug gest that there would be a problem carrying forward
the current agreement to any future operator or track authority, British Rail could not guarantee that a successor would maintain the stance.
