pla c e o v e r a l l in the recently held COBRA championship race held in Basingstoke. On the night before
the event it rained and left the course in perfect condition for Knowles who was racing with a set o f brand new tyres. In the opening two

the two pro-class finals. In the opening final he was again in top form
taking a deserved first place. In the second the track began to dry and Knowles began to strug gle with the bike. “As it dried the rest of
the bikes started to han dle better and mine was worse,” said Knowles, who managed to hold off th e f ie ld and c la im second place to guaran te e his f ir s t position overall. This weekend he will
be competing at a meet ing at Rochdale. A t one time scheduled
to be a British Cham p ion sh ip round , the Rochdale race will now be just a regular club event but will provide the riders with a tough test.

means that Lund now stands around 120 points clear at the top of the title table and as defending champion looks firm favourite to retain his title when the s e r ie s ends in November. On Saturday he travelled to
Coventry and a shale track, claimed fourth place in the heat, second in the final and second in the Grand National. Although pleased with his
41 points, Lund could have done better. “ I was running second in the heat, but was involved in a bit of rough stuff and had to make do with fourth,” said Lund. The following day the rac

in both his heats before taking third position in the final and f ir s t pla ce in the Grand National. This took his points haul for
