Tennis road to glory


THE under 13s team from Clithcroe Koval Grammar School lias readied the North West regional final of the Midland Bank/Lawn Tennis Association team competition.


In Jtdy they became the Lancashire Champions and since


then have defeated schools from the Cumbria, Knowsley and Manchester areas.


During the competition the team have dropped only three


sets of tennis to reach the regional finals. The talented squad of Lisa Jackson, Jayne Hutchinson,


Nicola Middlebrook and Sarah Bishop travel to the Puma Tennis Centre at Wigan, a week today, to play Archbishop Blanch School, from Liverpool, in the North West final.


I f they are successful, they will then go on to face the


winners'of the North Midlands final. The winners of that match then go on to face the North East finalists in Sheffield on Monday, November 23rd.


The national finals w ill be played at Telford Racquet Centre on Monday, December 7th.

H A V ING been crowned as the National Stock Car Points Champion for the sixth year running last week, John Lund continued his long season at the weekend. Starting at Bradford’s shale


track, John claimed first place in the heat, third in the final and fo u r th in th e Grand National. The following day lie travelled to Northampton’s tarmac c irc u it and secured second and third places in the heals. He then .claimed fourth position in the final and a fine f i r s t place in th e Grand National. Th e re are now ju s t s ix meetings left and this week-
