EASTER MESSAGE The pantomime cry, ”New lamps for old” was a con.
You might have got a new lamp but if you’d swapped, the magic one for it you were greatly the loser.
The Christian offer of new life for old is the opposite
in every respect. First, it is real, not pantomime. Second, if you don't accept it, you’re the loser. Third, everyone — not
just one — who accepts it benefits. Fourth, it is a genuine offer, carrying a guarantee against fraud. The resurrection of Jesus is both the new life that's offered and its guarantee.
This Eastertide, five of the churches in Clitheroe are to
begin sharing this new life with each other as, under God, they commit themselves to each other in their vocation to be reconcilers between God and His people. IV© praise them for their courage and await the blessings that will surely flow from it.
