Summer is here - and that’s official!

SUMMER is here to stay — and that’s official! Clitheroe’s own amateur weather forecaster, Mr.

Tom Suttie, says that it will remain mostly dry but become unsettled again later in the month. According to Bill Foggitt, of Thirsk, whose

insight into the long-term weather prospects has brought him national notoriety, “this summer could be the hottest since 1976 — it has all the signs.” Local demand has led to his forecasts being

displayed at the Clitheroe Tourist Information Office. From his home, Mr. Foggitt says that the good

weather is established now and predicts: “It will be even hotter in the first half of July, which on average is the hottest part of the summer.”
