secuting, said Ratcliffe collided with a young girl on a cycle when he cut a blind bend. Although the girl suffered serious leg injuries, he left the scene and went home.

PARTS of the Ribble V a lley were without power on Thursday when electricity ' supply lines across , the Pimlico link road at Clitheroe came down. A small explosion burned off- the top of a pole and left wires hang ing dangerously. About 600 consumers in
Downham, Rimington and Gisburn were without power between 5 and 7 a.m. A dozen more con sumers in isolated pockets at Upbrooks, Mearley and Pendleton, also lost their su p p ly ,-u n t i l shortly, before lunchtime. The link road, was
