Wanderers take a point from derby with high flying Read

Read 213 for 6, Ribblesdale Wanderers 126 for 9

THERE were no upsets in this derby match between high flying Read and struggling Ribblesdale Wanderers. Three points for a

winning draw went to Read, who, on their home ground, gave the crowd some great entertainment when

innings quite well with skipper David Cottam and

WANDERERS 3rd col lected five points from probably their fastest

match of the season. Their opponents, in a

game which lasted only two hours and 22 minutes,

were Settle. They were asked to bat

first,. making only 33 runs for the loss of all their wickets. Settle’ s top scorer was A. Majzlik who made nine. Wanderers bowlers had

a field day, in particular D a v id O’N eil l, who finished with seven wick ets for only 15 runs, an average of 2.1. Settle’s other three wic

kets fell to David Work man, his three scalps cost

ing nine runs. The interval between

innings was cancelled as only the umpire felt hungry . • . and he was

outvoted! ' Then Wanderers settled

down to the easy task of reaching a target of 34 runs. This was reached m the 10th over for the loss of one wicket, that of Gary Farnsworth (5). Wanderers other batsmen were Neil Parker (15) and Andrew Braithwaite (11).
