Gang Show deserves its applause
IT’S BRAVO for every body involved in the Clitheroe and District Scout Executive’s Gang Show ’83. For the Cubs, Scouts
and leaders were excel lent on stage, lighting was good and the sound was crystal clear. A packed Parish Hall
obviously enjoyed the en tertainment to the full and each sketch received generous applause. In the first half of the
show the song “Sisters,” performed by Trevor Wilson and Duncan Field ing brought the house down. They had every body laughing as they swanked across the stage rolling their hips and re vealing most unfeminine hairy legs while dressed in Marilyn Monroe garb. The sketch and song
many the overall star of the show — had the audi ence in stitches. In their version, rather than sit listening to his father singing how he loves him, the son interrupts the song and annoys his father with witty anec dotes. The Cubs stole the
“Sonny Boy,” played ex tremely well by Stephen Lord and Clifford Cow- burn — who was for

limelight in the second half of the show when they did a “Mary Pop- pins” sketch. It started with a nar

young Robert Shorrock who had the misfortune to suffer such an embarrass ment . . . for he shrugged it aside to turn in a great performance, leading many would-be Dick Van Dykes through a medley which included “Supercali
. . . whatever it is ,” “Feed the birds” and “A spoonful of sugar. The show ended with

A CLITHEROE woman who fell from her bicycle in Edisford Road on Friday, injuring her face, is now on the mend at Blackburn Royal Infir mary. Mrs Alice Ebson (52),
