after members heard advice from two senior Burnley police officers, who were asked to attend the council meeting to clarify the law regarding the riding of bikes. The meeting was also
attended by a number-of the young riders and th e ir parents. Afterwards, the chair
man', Coun. Miss Alice AMon, said she hoped the bylaw would solve the vil lage’s problems. “The motor-cyclists will
be able to wheel th e ir machines up to Cobden Farm provided they have insurance," she said. “Hopefully by letting

Guide dog to be a guest
MISS Jennie Lee, of Ful- wood, Preston, and her guide dog Wallace will join Clitheroe and District Tre foil Guild at the home of Mr and Mrs Ralph Bailey, of Claremont Avenue tonight at a coffee evening in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind and Trefoil funds. When Jennie and Wallace'
met the Trefoil members two years ago, £100 was raised for the fund. It is hoped to raise £150 tonight and to choose a name for a guide dog. Jennie has since visited
her brother in Australia — without Wallace because of quarantine laws. Reunited, Wallace each day takes Jen nie to her work as a switch board operator. Jennie is looking forward
to meeting her many friends in Clitheroe again and perhaps to making new ones, too.
