2 o'clock start for games throughout the season. At present this applies only from mid-August and at
last year's meeting a 2 p.m proposal was defeated on the casting vete of the pre sident.
Baxenden are proposing
2 p.m. and a meeting of club captains, league execu tives and umpires has tabled a motion for a trial 2 p.m. start for next season only.
RULES Read are asking for an
examination of limited overs cricket in time for the 1974 annual meeting with a sug. gested introduction in 1975.
The rules and handbook
sub-committee recommends substantial increases in penalties for rule Infringe ments, and some changes in the Ramsbottom and Law renson Cup matches. Fadi ham is asking for rules to be drawn up for the Lawren son Cup with special regard to eligibility.

IDEAS WANTED
PLANS to hold a Sports Festival in Clitheroe from June 1st to 8th next year have met with no response so far from local sporting organisations.
The Ribble Valley Sports
and Recreational Advisory Council hopes that clubs and groups in the area will orga nise activities such as pigeon racing, snooker exhibitions a .id archery displays to make the week a success.
They have also asked for
suggestjons for a novelty contest connected with Clitheroe—but this’ too has attracted no replies.

stoues A suffered their first defeat of the season when
they visited Standen A. At one stage Calderstones were
trailing 6-0 but fought back to a final 6-4. Standen turned
on an all-round team per formance B. Knowles and D. Drakhenberg winning two each and N. Pollard one. Pollard and Knowles took the doubles aeainst G. Rob erts and H. Blackburn. For the visitors, Roberts and Blackburn won two out of three. Trinity A went down 6-4
