Awards for Clarion stalwarts
THE 2-1-years membership of the Clarion cycling move ment by Dennis and Mabel Thomber was recognised a t the Clitheroe section's annual dinner at the Starkie Arms by the presentation of medals by Mr. Bob Feltell, of Accring ton. Although unable to cycle at present, Mabel is the national
standing NC member, Mr. Brian Braithwaite, and Vera Street, of the Stockport section, who spoke on behalf of the visitors. Also present were two
by the president. Mr. Brian Nightingale, and included cycl ists from Burnley and Man chester. Among the guests was a long
membership secretary, and Den nis. over the years, has held the positions of captain and vice captain, and worked hard to maintain the continuity of the club run. The visitors were welcomed
to have been to Horton in Ribblesdale. from whence we would climb Pen-y-Ghent. But
when we saw the weather on offer we decided tha t Pen-y- Ghent would be best left for the sheep and the four members who got as far as Stainforth stayed in f ro n t o f the warm lire until an improvement in the conditions for the ride home. I t was perhaps as well that
