R.W.C.C. 200 CLUB—No. 19. Sleep This time the rally comes into

our own area, with the start at Kirkby Lonsdale. It is a restric ted rally, and these usually attract the hard core of rally ing for whom they are usually intended. So if you can afford to lose a

night's sleep, try to find your self a good vantage point on a dirt track somewhere. Clitheroe will, o f course, have

a few entries in the event, and we hope that they will do well, as they always have. DARK WATER.

Guest speaker Mr.: Maurice -‘Macmillan,

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

move over the border into Yorkshire to find a bit of motor sport, not a thing in Lancashire. So I paid -•. visit to the Huddersfield M.C. Speed Hill Club at Baitings

Dam, near Ripponden. This club uses the access road

to a large dam, and the track is:about a 1 mile in length, the average gradient being 1 in 11, . There were about 100 entries in the field, the event, o f course, had to be decided on who could climb the hill in the fastest time and as the track' was

muddythe drivers were taking their lime, and who can blame them? At least half o f them made

use of tile straw bales placed at each of tho hairpin bends. The minis did all right on the cor ners with their front , wheel drives, and these were making the fastest times o f the day.

Crowd Tile' fastest time of the day

was made by P. Stondidge, who also happens to be the competi tion secretary of the promoting club. ■

” . There was quite a fair crowd

o f spectators at the event and believe me, you need a bit of financial support for an event like this because they are very expensive to promote, and definitely out of the range of Clitheroe. You have to have all the three

services present, plus a large fee for the use o f the track.

The event was - spoiled only

by the dismal weather; it did not exactly rain but it remained very misty and overcast. For anyone interested, the events are well worth a visit. This weekend, we have once

again the Devil’s Own Rally, promoted by Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club.

Gisburn won their way .to

the final of the Craven Cup in an exciting re-played

semi-final with Waddinglon. They will meet Barnoldswlck

Park Rovers in the final at the L.M.S. ground, Skipton', on ■ Tuesday/ Tlte semi-final was played at

Ba-molds-wick in very wet and slippery conditions. Play was

fast and even but after 10 minutes, Gisburn came undo.- extreme pressure, and on!: some fine saves by Dennc. saved them from conceding t goal. : Gisburn were coming mo;< into tlie game at the end oi the first half, but: after th:

interval, Waddington ■: again mounted several useful attacks. But the Gisburn defence, mar shalled by Huxtable, kept them at bay.

Fierce ..After 12 minutes o f the

second half, Gisburn were, awarded a free kick , on the

edge o f the Waddington penalty area, John Nuttall took the kick with a fierce shot which was blocked by the Wadding- ' ton keeper. Quick thinking by Carter

put him clear to run on to the ball and score. Fifteen minutes' later, the

ball was in the Gisburn net. but the referee. disallowed the goal because one of the Wad dington players had handled. : Play swung from end to end,

but in the last 10 minutes. Gisburn were on top and were unlucky not to score again. - Gisburn team; Dennett:
