SCHOOL’S MUSIC ' HONOUR

Edisford Courity Primary School, Clitheroe, have been taking part in a series of four concerts organised by the Lancashire County Music Department.

S e v e n t y children from Mr. A. M. Latimer, head

master at the school, told the Advertiser and Times, that the children, who form ihe school choir and music en semble. appeared with the Hoghton Singers and ihe Fyldc Brass Quartet at Has- lingden on Friday, at Edis- lord School on Tuesday, at Rawtenstall last night and will be appearing at Accring ton tonight. The children have been

playing Chirstmas music and a new work entitled “The Happy Meadow” by Wilfrid Mellers for which they were conducted by Mr. David Jones, one of Lancashire County Council's Mu s i c Advisers. Aged between eight and

ten years, the children have been singing and playing many varied instruments. Mr. Latimer said. “ I don’t

know exactly why the chil dren of our school have been picked for these concerts when there is such a wide area from which to choose. It must be because of their musical ability.”
