Team work turns the scale

Sound team work enabled

Ribblesdale Wanderers to gam a very valuable victory at Read and the news, later, that Earby, the league leaders, had been defeated, was very sweet in deed; a fitting' climax to

very happy day. Billy Slinger, the Wanderers’ professional, is deserving of

special mention because of his lively innings, which was all the more meritorious in view of a recent injury.

Billy was playing in a

friendly game the previous Sunday when he was stiucK

«n tlie face by a, ball. His glasses were smashed

and he had to receive eight

stitches under the eyes This did not affect Billy a

spirited batting in the least and his 42 quickly-scored runs'

enabled the Wanderers to reach a very respectable total. One of the turning pouits m
