"repaired” his father's moped was fined a total of £6 for four offences by Clithcroe juvenile panel on Wednes day. Inspector H . Dickinson said
the boy was seen in Clai-emont Avenue riding the machine with a passenger beliind him. Th cy mad e for a building site and the passenger ran away. T h e officer interviewed the
bov. found he was under 15. and noticed that the machine was not properly equipped for carry ing a passenger.
T h e boy was fined £1 for
driving under age, £3 for driv ing uninsured. £1 for carrying a
pas.senger without footrests and £1 for having inefficient brakes.
H e pleaded guilty to all
offences and apologised to the panel.

Later, however, the police officer who saw it realised that it could not bc,^ and on closer examination saw that it should have expired in M ay . whereas it claimed to expire in October.
Crook was also fined £2 on
each of two cases of using the car without excise licence and £1 for using it without test certificate.
A summons of failing to
notify change of ownership of the vehicle was dismissed.
Crook said w h e n he first
bought the car the licensing a u t h o r i t y were definitely notified of the change.
