assistant, of 14 Trinity Street, Oswaldtwistle; Peter Cham- ley, aged 23, marine engineer, pf 302 Willows Lane, Accring ton; and Geoffrey Tattersall, aged 20, architect’s assistant, of 5 Sultan Street, Accrington.
They pleaded guilty to pur
suing game without a licence, using a gun for taking game on a Sunday, killing game on a
Sunday and being suspected of coming from land after being. In search of game.- The two guns were confiscated.

Dobbs, said the offences oc-, curred on the Bashall Eaves estate of Lady Worsley-

! 'At 7-30 a.m. the gamekeeper met Insp. J. Abbot and P.c. Bennett of the Lancashire County Constabulary and told
i them what he had seen. Fifteen minutes later the
[ police saw the car standing by ' the roadside at Whltewell.
[Blrtwell was standing outside : the car holding in his hands a ;.22 rifle fitted With telescopic ’ sights.
i On the other side of the car I was Charnley, who also'held a 1.22 rifle. Tattersall was sitting jin the rear of the car. All I three were wearing rubber I boots which were covered with wet lime.

guns was worth about £25. Jnsp. Dobbs: “ We have the
utmost sympathy with the defendants,' but they have pleaded guilty to the offences. The magistrates are under a mandatory obligation to con fiscate the rifles and ammuni- tloii.’’

Alderson pleaded not guilty
to killing game without a licence.-
Inspector E. J. Dobbs said
the alleged offences took place on September 29th, during the close season for game shooting.
