The Town Clerk also reported on a communication he had addressed to the Ministry protesting against the remoiial of the gates, and the Committee approved .these actions. At & laterimeeting, the Town Clerk submittedia letter from the Emer gency Works Officer of the Ministry of 'Works)and Planning regretting that these gates were re-moved without prior reference to the Borough Surveyor or ‘other ofQclals and pointing out that although the gates 'were, not scheduled fqr re moval tli4y did not fall within the exemption categories laid down by the 1 Ministry. The letter also stated that the Emergency Works Officer proposed to Inspect the gates before giving a decision on- the request for replacement.
