The Chief Constable stated that accused was born In Clltheroe and resided with her widowed mother; her father having died in 1937; She attended St. James’s School until' 1939, when she was transferred to Rlbblesdale Senior School, leaving there In September ,1941. The headmasters Of' both these schools stated that she was an Irregular attender, although Reasonably Ini telligent. Since leaving school she had been unemployed: except for three weeks In March] this; year, when she had been! delivering papers, but her services were dis­ pensed with as she was unsatisfac­ tory. There were six other 'child­ ren' 'two of whom were In! the Forces. Of those at hoiriej two were at school and two In .eihploy- ment. The mother was hard [work­ ing and respectable.
