Watermota recently scoped and provided an IMO TIER III propulsion package for a newbuild multirole workboat in the aquaculture industry. Detials on the project are as follows:

Project: Newbuild Multirole Workboat - IMO TIER III compliant.

Details The Boatbuilder required a propulsion package to comply with IMO TIER III in addition to a powerpack to run a generator and hydraulic equipment. The final solution provided by Watermota consisted of everything that was required along with an electronic throttle control system fit for commercial duty.

Specification Watermota provided the following solution for the propulsion package: • 2 x Doosan 4L126CAKH Engine (500Hp) – IMO TIER 3 Compliant.

• 2 x D-I DMTP6500 5.91:1 gearboxes.

• 2 x Vulkan couplings specially designed for remote mounting the gearboxes.

• 1 x Doosan AD136TI powered generator.

• 2 X DPO160 Clutched power take offs.

• 1 x Flexball throttle control system.

Conclusion The complete package was delivered to the shipyard in under 20 weeks from placement of order and as part of the new engine supply a pre-installation check was carried out by their engineer to answer any questions around the new SCR system.

Successful sea trials were carried out early in July with the vessel preforming as expected and delivering exceptional fuel economy, with a cruising speed of 8 knots at under 55 LPH of fuel consumption.
