Why Abergavenny Food Festival Deserves a Place on Your Autumn Calendar
Every September, Abergavenny Food Festival fills its streets with local producers, live cooking, inspiring talks and thousands of people brought together by a shared love of food.
Returning on 19–20 September, the not-for-profit festival features more than 120 producers and over 80 demonstrations, talks and tastings across 16 venues. Alongside live music, debates, family activities and book events, more than 80% of the programme is included with a standard festival ticket, allowing visitors to dip in and out of events throughout the weekend.
The 2026 line-up includes seafood authority Nathan Outlaw as he shares techniques from his latest book On Fish, while double MasterChef champion Ping Coombes explores the traditions and recipes behind Rice.
Sabrina Ghayour returns with her signature Middle Eastern flavours in Persiana, Richard Hammond discusses the story behind Ratio Gin, and live-fire favourites The Beefy Boys bring their award-winning barbecue to the Cooking Over Fire stage. Visitors can also hear from plant-based chef Gaz Oakley, outdoor cooking expert Harrison Ward, Genevieve Taylor, Max Halley and many more.
Beyond the headline names, the programme includes guided foraging walks, outdoor cook-outs in the Welsh hills, author talks, quizzes, children's cookery sessions and discussions exploring everything from sustainable food systems to the future of British farming.
While welcoming visitors from across the UK, Abergavenny Food Festival remains firmly rooted in the community that created it. More than 80% of its producers come from Wales and the neighbouring border counties, ensuring the festival continues to showcase the exceptional food, drink and talent found right on its doorstep.
