One thing that is cer tain, whatever the wattage, illuminations are just magical and combined wi th a garden setting in one of our most popular local garden centres, you’re on to a winter wonder land winner ! So, let’s get those red boots (or slippers) back on and off we go……

The Enchanted Gardens is back for i ts f i f th year, bringing the much-loved children's classic, Wizard of Oz to l i fe through a mixture of stunning theatr ical sets, lanterns, projections, and enchanting sounds.

Get swept up in a Kansas storm as Dorothy's farmhouse is lif ted sk yward, follow the yellow brick road through Munchk inland and meet the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. Try not to fall asleep in the poppy field of dreams as you head to the majestic gates of the Emerald City and of course watch out for the Wicked Witch of the West and her f lying monkeys! Will the Great Oz grant the Scarecrow a brain, the Tin Man a hear t and the Lion some courage? And will Glinda the Good Wi tch help Dorothy f ind her way home? (Spoiler aler t – she does!). Finally, (because this is Oz where anything is possible) don’t forget

to say hello to Father Chr istmas in his snow-covered work shop and house.

As well as the much-loved character s and storytelling that unfolds, it’s also a thrill to see a plethora of plants draped in cur tains of l ight and tak ing on whole new character s af ter dark , bamboos posi tively glow and luminous green coni fers greet the prescr ibed snow showers like old f riends. Plus, make sure you leave time to visit the garden centre whilst there, so you can come home wi th some green treats of your own!

I t’s the per fect time for evergreens and there are some really 123

perk y little pines to collect, proving a tree can be for life, not just for Chr istmas!

There’s also plenty of food on offer, and I par ticularly love book ing a private Hygge Igloo to snuggle up in wi th

fami ly and friends. Choose from Brunch,

Oz-themed Af ternoon Tea (that gets my vote!), or Savoury Platter s for a truly cosy festive dining exper ience. (Not to mention the Festive Fayre and Food Market) – you’ ll need more than Dorothy’s basket to get all of your purchases home! Although maybe try click ing your heels together and hoping for the best!

Happy Christmas – there’s no place like home.

(The Enchanted Gardens Oz runs until 3rd January 2026. Book this and igloos online at Webbs).
