Sullivan sits on the north end of the Lake and has unique restaurants, recreation, and shopping opportunities. The “Little Theatre on the Square” is what Sullivan is known for and is the only Equity stock theatre in Central Illinois. Opening in 1957 with stars such as Mickey Rooney, Alan Alda, & Ann Miller performing as well as many others. It has a variety of adult programs as well as matinees for kids. www.thelittletheatre.org. Sullivan’s own Wyman Park and Tabor Park have hours of fun with tennis, horseshoes, baseball, hiking, and fishing opportunities. Arthur has the largest Amish settlement in Illinois. Home to several bakeries and bulk food stores, Amish crafted custom oak furniture, quilts, and clothing,. You’ll also find flower, antique, and gift shops. Arthur hosts crafts and county fairs and the popular Cheese Festival plus the Pumpkin Patch, known for its cucur- bits with over 300 varieties of pumpkin, squash, and gourds.


Arcola: just off I-57 and is the “broomcorn capital of


the world”. The Broom Corn Festival happens the weekend after Labor Day. Arcola is also the birthplace of Johnny Gruelle, creator of Raggedy Ann & Andy. Each June, Raggedy enthusiasts gather to commemorate the National Toy Hall of Fame charac- ters. The Aikman Wildlife Adventure Park hosts drive-thru and walk-thru animal adventures and many activities through the year.


Cadwell is surrounded by Amish farms, where horse drawn buggies and farm im- plements are a common sight. It has an Oak Furniture company, buggy shop, harness shop, feed mill, and antique shops.
