Improves soil texture, aids drainage and increases water retention. Mix into compost at a 50:50 ratio when sowing, then cover with another fi ne layer. Reduces the risk of fungal diseases. Perlite lets light through while keeping soil moist for germination.


Vermiculite


Retains water and absorbs nutrients, releasing them as required to the plant roots. Particularly benefi cial for very small seeds when used as a covering by insulating against any fl uctuations in temperature and protecting against frost damage.
