Next-generation data logging: Cooperation of TSafe with Tec4med

Patrick Rivera, general manager at TSafe, and Nico Höler, CEO at Tec4med, offer insights into their cooperation for a full end- to-end visibility solution of iDEX/Tec4Cloud with full temperature transparency during the whole shipping process in real time.

TSafe and Tec4med are very different businesses. Before we go into specifics of your cooperation, what are you doing in your respective fields? Nico Höler, Tec4med: Tec4med provides next- generation data-monitoring solutions integrating smart internet of things (IoT) hardware and innovative cloud solutions, focusing on the high demands of the pharmaceutical industry. Patrick Rivera, TSafe: TSafe is a specialised courier, focusing only on global temperature-controlled shipments with full service, exclusively for the pharmaceutical sector, i.e., active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), distribution of investigational medicinal products (IMP) and all kinds of pharmaceutical and biological samples.

Real-time data logging is broadly offered for a few years then superseded. What’s next? Nico Höler: Besides our smart IoT hardware innovations, the key here is our software integration, like the Tec4App and our integration into any client software-solutions, as we did with TSafe’s iDEX. There are two aspects: the first is the new technology as information is provided globally and in real time via 5G network connection; and second, additional data, like delivery notes, proof of pick-up/delivery (PoP/PoD), and pictures of damages can be attached digitally to the transport report or fed into third-party software systems such as iDEX from TSafe. Patrick Rivera: Both aspects are important to us, as TSafe stands for temperature-critical shipments. It goes without saying that temperature monitoring is one of the most relevant aspects of our value proposition. Tec4med’s offer is far more than selling us just data loggers. It’s crucial to always combine real-time temperature information with logistic tracking data, and importantly by the means of 21st-century technologies, or IoT, to stay in vogue.

Nico Höler: That’s where we could help you, Patrick, right? Our open software solution could easily be integrated into your iDEX due to our small and flexible teams. We at Tec4med are thinking in processes – and aim to improve those constantly. We learned a lot about your special needs in cooperating with TSafe, not only in terms of practical add-ons and new features for the hardware, basically the dataloggers, but also very much on the software and cloud level. Patrick Rivera: Absolutely, Nico, your Tec4Cloud platform was integrated into iDEX in no time. We could start our pilot phase two weeks after the signature – that’s the speed we need in this market. Seeing you going straight forward, along with taking quick and profound decisions, is what we liked. Now, integrating the Tec4Cloud into our iDEX gives maximum value to our clients, since it combines both worlds of real-time tracking and shipment control into one unique platform. Nico Höler: Yes, we did our best, but more generally speaking, we either integrate our open REST API or our external deep links into our client’s software solutions. Hereby, the clients get live updates of the temperature-controlled shipment, such as reaching important checkpoints or information like OTIF (on time, in full). The IoT devices of Tec4med provide tracking parameters such as inside and outside temperature, humidity, vibrations and shock, and geolocation, which can be easily accessed via browser login.

Nico, how does Tec4med profit from the cooperation more precisely? Nico Höler: We’ve got meaningful feedback from TSafe’s day-to-day operations and lengthy experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Integration of a client’s know-how and ideas has always been a strong focus of Tec4med to develop
