DECEMBER 2023 Ӏ NEWS

TWo NEW LoCATIoNS FoR FoR BKL

From 1 December, 2023, German crane service provider BKL Baukran Logistik will have additional locations in Nuremberg and Ansbach, Germany, following its takeover of Knoll GmbH & Co. The new branches mean the company has a total number of nine locations across the country.

As well as the usual mobile crane and

transport services formerly provided by Kran-Knoll, BKL's complete tower crane portfolio will also now be available in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. "Expanding our branch network is

part of our growth strategy, with the aim of offering added services, greater

proximity and maximum availability along the north-south axis," said Alexander Volz, chairman of the advisory board and owner of BKL. "We are delighted to have found in Kran-Knoll not just a first-class crane supplier for the Nuremberg region but, above all, a fantastic team that is an excellent fit for the BKL family." The latest expansion means that BKL

now owns over 500 tower cranes, as well as more than 300 mobile cranes, mobile construction cranes, trucks, loader cranes and low-loaders, with over 360 employees at nine locations. The company currently generates a turnover in excess of 90 million euros. Alexander Volz, second generation

owner of BKL, said: "It was important to both Hans-Peter Knoll and us at BKL that the two companies were a good match. We want the locations to continue to be successful and the teams to feel that they are part of the BKL family."

SAFETY FIRST AT LoNDoN ToWER CRANE JoBSITE IN LoNDoN

UK crane provider London Tower Crane Hire & Sales (LTC) is using seven Saez tower cranes equipped with DCS 61-S zoning and anticollision systems from French company AMCS Technologies. The cranes are working at the Plumstead High Street rehabilitation housing project in south London, UK. According to AMCS its DCS 61-S

system ensures three key functions: zoning, anti-collision, and it also works as a display unit and data logger. Gary Leader, health and safety advisor

at LTC, commented, “The DCS 61-S system significantly benefits the jobsite with ability to set key reference points as well as a calibration check point. For instance, if required to lift to a particular loading bay on a regular basis, we can ask the system to record the coordinates, and the system will notify once the crane has

been manoeuvred into position. “Things inevitably go wrong on a

jobsite, and the true value of the system is observed when we encounter issues. If for example power is lost on TC3, the system recognises this, and will not allow me within the lifting radius of TC3. However, once power has been restored, the system will automatically recognise this and make TC3 live on the screen.

“The DCS 61-S system is also live, enabling troubleshooting issues to be rectified far more quickly. Rather than a technician attending the project to diagnose the fault, the system can be observed remotely in AMCS HQ. AMCS is then able to diagnose the fault remotely, arrange parts and instruct a technician to attend to rectify the issue saving the jobsite precious time.”
