COMMENT Ӏ SEPTEMBER 2024

CHARGED UP AND READY TO GO

The energy generation sector is a big one to cover; exciting, too. Fast moving technologies and visionary thinking characterise an industry that is booming around the globe. As a result, to extend our coverage, we've split our energy sector profile into two separate areas of focus: onshore and offshore (page 18 and 30, respectively). In these back-to-back features house writer Julian Champkin looks at the challenges and opportunities each area offers when it comes to lifting and transportation. Also comparing different parts of the same lifting sector contributing writer Daniel Searle looks at pick and carry cranes (page 37). Specifically Searle looks at Terex's Franna brand in the Australian market, plus its expansion strategy, alongside the Italian market and perspectives from various manufacturers there. Tying in with the aforementioned energy theme, our commercial construction

feature looks at the rise in lifting work due to the increased demand for microchips around the world. We live in a digital age and our multitude of electronic devices require components. Factories are needed to make these, resulting in lifting work. Read more on page 14. I hope you enjoy the issue.
