With a record-breaking 90-metre boom, Schwerlast Weise’s new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 all terrain crane goes straight from the factory to the jobsite to erect a tower crane.
German crane and logistics service provider Schwerlast Weise sent its brand-new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane straight from the manufacturing plant in Ehingen to a construction site in Erfurt where it is being used to erect one of the company’s tower cranes. The crane is now the biggest all terrain in Schwerlast Weise’s fleet.
A key feature of the 300-tonne capacity, six-axle mobile crane is its eight-section, 90-metre telescopic boom. Liebherr says this is one section more than similar cranes in this class and that it set a record as being the first mobile crane able to carry a 90-metre telescopic boom with an axle load of just 12 tonnes for public roads. On the Erfurt jobsite the telescopic boom was extended to 69.2
metres and the slewing platform was equipped with 68 tonnes of ballast in order to assemble the heaviest part weighing ten tonnes at a radius of 36 metres. "The crane operator and our construction crane fitters are very
satisfied and impressed with the crane after its first use and are already looking forward to new tasks and projects with this piece of equipment," says company managing director Walter Weise-Kahlert. In addition to helping erect tower cranes it will be used for the assembly and dismantling of and electricity pylons. The pylons are key to Germany’s energy supply infrastructure –
carrying electricity from north to south. The pylons provide a good source of work as new ones are continually being built and smaller pylons are being replaced by larger ones. "The long telescopic boom has great advantages for the assembly and dismantling of tower cranes and electricity pylons as we do not have to transport and assemble any folding jibs or lattice extensions on the new 300-tonner, thus saving time and money," says Weise-Kahlert. "The versatile customised solutions of the LTM 1300-6.3 naturally also increase the possibilities for exchanging capacity with business partners from our industry."
