Industrialising additive

By embedding additive processes within an industrial, quality-driven environment, Framatome’s Advanced & Additive Manufacturing Center aims to create a turning point for nuclear component production.

FRAMATOME’S NEW ADVANCED & additive manufacturing (AM) centre at Romans-sur-Isère in France represents the consolidation of more than a decade of development work focused on metal AM for nuclear components. Designed to support serial production of parts the plant will use in home techniques of powder-bed fusion, wire-arc, along with other technically mature processes that have already been deployed at pilot scale. the company has been producing AM components and elements for several years, the Romans-sur-Isère facility is also being used to demonstrate that components manufactured in the way display consistent conformity with stringent nuclear requirements. The primary technical driver, according to Mohamed

Zouari, Senior Manager Head of the Advanced & Additive Manufacturing activities at Framatome, is repeatability.
