Wheat and gluten


Wheat is the grain that is most often associated with allergies, but even at that, wheat allergy is relatively uncommon. There are two types of negative immune reactions to wheat.

Treatment of anaphylaxis The main treatment for the life- threatening symptoms of anaphylaxis is epinephrine. This is a life-saving drug that treats the symptoms of anaphylactic shock by stopping the airway from swelling and is administered by an auto-injector syringe, usually into the muscles of the outer part of the thigh.


The procedure for any type of auto- injector is similar: the safety cap is removed and the end with the needles pushed firmly into the fleshy outer portion of the thigh. The auto- injector is then held in place for a few seconds until all of the medicine is injected. The needle is then removed by pulling the pen straight out and the area is massaged.


epinephrine auto-injectors are prescribed for anyone who has ever had an anaphylactic attack and for children, who are at high risk of anaphylaxis. epinephrine auto-injectors are available in school or childcare settings and staff are generally trained about how to use them.


unfortunately, people who have had a severe allergic reaction are at risk for future reactions. even if the first reaction is mild, future reactions can be more severe, so it’s important for those, who are at risk of anaphylaxis to carry self-injectable epinephrine.
