International Hardware Show rescheduled for 2021

WITH days to go before the International Hardware Show 2020 was scheduled to begin, the show’s organisers announced that the event was postponed until 2021 in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The show, originally scheduled for 1 - 4 March 2020, will now be taking place 21 – 24 February 2021.

In weeks leading up to the original date for the show, several notable exhibitors reluctantly pulled out of exhibiting including Knipex, Wera and Stahlwille.

At the time of printing, World Health Organisation figures reveal that more than 94,000 people across the globe have been infected with the Coronavirus, though around 84% of cases have been confined to mainland China.

The International Hardware Fair, usually a biennial event, will be integrated with Asia- Pacific Sourcing 2021, and will then continue in 2022 as originally planned.

Other European shows which have been rearranged due to safety concerns over the virus include MWC Barcelona 2020 (which was cancelled) and Light + Building (which has been put off until the end of September).

The show’s organisers put out the following statement: The INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR, which was postponed this year, has a new date. It will be held 21 to 24 February 2021 in Cologne.

The new date was set in consultation with the industry and is meeting with broad acceptance by the exhibitors. All existing contracts with the exhibitors remain valid; hall occupancy for 2021 reflects the existing plans from 2020 on a 1:1 basis.

There will be just one leading trade fair for the hardware industry in Cologne in 2021: Asia-Pacific Sourcing, which was planned for March, will be integrated into the HARDWARE FAIR. The next event after that will then be held as planned, in spring 2022.

The new date was set in consultation with the industry and is meeting with broad acceptance by the exhibitors."

All paid tickets will be automatically refunded. Koelnmesse will centrally issue these refunds in the coming weeks; there is nothing further for ticket buyers to do.

The INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR is the world’s leading platform for innovation and business in the hardware sector. Some 3,000 exhibitors had been expected in 2020, including around 1,200 from China.
