Will your financial aid be the same at all colleges and universities?
A student’s financial need varies by school due to the difference in cost of attendance. Financial need estimates are determined by subtracting the expected family contribution (EFC)— calculated by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)—from the school’s estimated cost of attendance. Our professionals will help you and your family understand the financial aid process.

Information about transfer credits
For calculating satisfactory academic progress standards for continuing federal financial aid eligibility, all credits transferred into UB are considered as attempted credits. Spring semester transfer students who have already completed the FAFSA to receive financial aid for the fall semester should contact the Federal Processing Center to update the school information on their FAFSA application. To update the FAFSA, add “State University of New York at Buffalo” for the school name and UB’s federal school code: 002837. You can also make updates by visiting the FAFSA website at
studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. (Log in as a returning user and follow the steps to add a school.)
