Thoroughbred Alliance HORSE SHOW SERIES

Dear TASS Community,

The Thoroughbred Alliance™ Show Series concluded its 2016 season on September 10 at Breezy Run in Church Hill, MD. This year, 106 competitors participated in seven TASS member shows located in Maryland and Virginia.

TASS was conceived in 2012 to promote Thoroughbreds insecondcareers through a series of horse shows in the Mid Atlantic region,and has raisedover $50,000 for 501c3 Thoroughbred rescue and aftercare organizations, including CANTER, Foxie G Foundation, MidAtlantic Horse Rescue, Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), and Our Mims Retirement Haven. The versatility of the Thoroughbred, and their extraordinary heart and courage, position them well for success in diverse equestrian disciplines.

The concept of the ex-racehorse turned competition horse has skyrocketedinpopularity. The TASS model proves there is HUGE interest in Thoroughbred-only divisions at hunter/jumper shows, from the local level to the USEF ‘AA’ level...and this interest continues to grow. The Take2 Second Career Thoroughbred Program alone now offers Thoroughbred classes at over 250 shows in 53 states nationwide.

We believe our common goal of helping Off Track Thoroughbreds in new careers can now best be served by shifting focus back to the existing horse show series’, who, beginning in 2013,have established, created or expanded divisions for Thoroughbred horses.

Therefore, it is with our deepest appreciation and sincerest gratitude to our supporters that the Board of Directorsregretfullyhas decidedto discontinue our show series for 2017. We are passionate about our Thoroughbreds and remain committed to exploring new and different opportunities for growthandsupport for the breed.

All of you -- exhibitors; sponsors, volunteers and friends -- helped TASS, the ONLYThoroughbred- only horse show series in the United States, not only succeed, but also serve as a catalyst for Thoroughbred-only classes at so many other shows. One of our original missions was to create more quality competition opportunities for the Off-Track Thoroughbred - and we did!Pick up just about any hunter/jumper prize list and you’ll find at least one Thoroughbred division, offering multiple jump heights, for horses of a variety of levels of experience.

We’ve met our goals with pride, and our original mission is complete. TASS will continue to operate as a trademarked organization committed to raising funds for aftercare; we simply feel that a Thoroughbred-only show series is no longer the best and most efficient way to do this. Currently, we’re focused on finishing out the competition year and awarding our series end winners, but please - stay tuned!
