Christmas Presents In April

On April 13, the organizers of the 2016 Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christmas Parade distributed almost $15,000 to its benefi ciary charities: the Howard County Food Bank, Carroll County Food Sunday, the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company and Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry. Checks were

presented before approximately 150 people at the Howard County Farm Bureau’s annual leg- islative dinner. T e original incarnation of the parade was so successful, with close to 500 horses coming from all over the Mid-Atlantic, that it quickly outgrew the capacities of the original commit- tee and the village of Lisbon. Now it is known as the Great Lisbon FARMERS FEED THE HUNGRY Christ- mas Parade, and the 2016 parade included 150 horses and about 20 tractors. For the 2017 Parade, to be held on Saturday, December 9, the committee will be able to accommodate up to 250 horses. Like last year, the registration pe- riod for horses will be from Aug. 1 through Sept. 30. For 2017, the

parade will start at noon with the tractors, fol- lowed by the horses. T e Equiery is proud to sponsor this unique Maryland equestrian event, which happens in its village headquarters of Lisbon.
