Livestock shows and auction, 4-H drill team performances, jousting, open riding classes, and a miniature horse pull are all equine highlights. “We are extremely thankful for our volunteers who support the fair entirely. We are a private facil- ity, not funded by the county or government, and everything we make contributes to the upkeep of the facility. Although we host a smaller fair, the fairgrounds are booked every weekend,” says John Richards, President of the Fair Association.


Somerset County Fair


July 23-29 • Princess Anne As the Somerset County Fair heads into its


75th year, the Fair Board continues to stay true to the agricultural traditions that are important to the Eastern Shore. T ese traditions include livestock, crop and vegetables, food preserva-


tion, horticulture, and home arts and crafts. Equine events this year include jousting and mounted shooting demonstrations.


Talbot County Fair


July 12-14 • Easton Off ering the ideal combination of entertain- ment and agricultural education, the Talbot County Fair celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. T e fair off ers a variety of livestock shows for both 4-H and Open classes. Equine specifi c events include the Youth 4-H/FFA and Open Horse Show as well as a jousting competition. T ere will also be musical entertainment!


Washington County Fair


July 14-21 • Boonsboro Founded in 1981, the Washington County Fair was originally known as the Great Hager-


stown Fair, and was held at Fairgrounds Park. As a fair devoted to educating the public on agricultural awareness 4-H/FFA events will involve livestock competitions, skills tests and indoor project exhibits. For entertainment, the fair off ers bull riding, demolition derby, diesel dirt drag and annual 4-H/FFA market sale. T e fair hosts 4-H/FFA Horse and Pony Western and English shows, the Horseman- ship Skillathon, and even a model horse show.


Worcester County Fair


June 22-24 • Snow Hill A county staple for over 20 years, the Worces- ter County Fair will continue its tradition this year with livestock shows, a cake auction, and classic Eastern Shore fare. T e fair also features rides and games for the entire family.
