Five years ago Shetland Ponies fi rst raced onto the scene at the Washington Interna- tional Horse Show’s (WIHS) Barn Night and won over the hearts of all who attended. And they will be back this year! T e fl uff y and fast competitors of what the Washington Post dubbed “D.C.’s newest– and cutest–sport” will race for their chance in the winners’ circle during WIHS Barn Night on T ursday, October 26, and President’s Cup Night on Saturday, October 28, at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Claiming victories in races held in Devon’s acclaimed Dixon Oval were Lawrence Fowler riding Tuesday, owned by Regina Welsh of U.S. Pony Racing, in the Shetland Pony Allowance Hurdle, and Harry McMahon riding Sail the Sun, owned by Phineas Westerlund, in the Hurdle Stakes.
