February Highlights from Rosecroft
Alexandra Goldin, who comes from a long- line of harness racing family members, secured her fi rst win as a driver on February 13 when she scored a 40-1 upset with Bankin On Bomb. T is was just the fourth race for Goldin, who is participating in the Mid Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club. It was Bankin On Bomb’s second win of 2024. Nineteen-year-old William Cater had a
stellar week winning 10 times in just two nights with four wins on February 20 and six wins on February 22. His wins included with Standardbreds Shim, Try Line, Doc- dor Mickey, Freak On A Leash, Miller, Racer Pacer and Velocity Gator. On February 28, Maryland-bred Lloyd’s
Loves, owned by Pamela Wagner, set an all-time best of 1:53.3 at Rosecroft with Declan Donoway driving. T is was a catch drive for Donoway. T at same night, two other horses from the John Wagner barn won races with Corey Braden driving Race Eye and Stacey McLenaghan driving Spee Dee Shark. Shortly after his wins, Donoway suff ered a seri- ous health issue, but is now recovering at home. T e harness racing community has rallied to support him and his family.

SafeSport for Parents & Guardians US Equestrian has recently encouraged all
parents and guardians of equestrian athletes under the age of 18 to take the free training course on child abuse, bullying, and general athlete welfare off ered by the US Center for SafeSport. T e SafeSport rules apply to any competition or clinic in Maryland that is spon- sored by US Equestrian. T e Parent's Guide to Misconduct in Sport is a 30-minute training video that educates par- ents and guardians on recognizing, responding to, and preventing abuse and misconduct in their child's sport. In addition, the US Center for SafeSport
derstand the diff erence between discipline and abuse and encourages them to reach out to a trusted adult as needed. All of these courses are free and can be found online at:

T e awards are presented by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association in collaboration with the Maryland T orough- bred Horsemen’s Association in order to rec- ognized excellence in Maryland T oroughbred racing and breeding for the previous year. Intrepid Daydream ( Jess’s Dream x In-
trepid Tour, by Jump Start) was named 2023 Maryland-bred Horse of the Year. Bred by Paul L. Fowler, Jr., and owned by Miller Racing LLC, the 2019 mare won the Shine Again Stakes at Pimlico and the Maryland Million Distaff Stakes and Politely Stakes at Laurel Park, all last year. Trained by Saffi e A. Joseph, Jr., in Florida and ridden by Tyler Gaff alione, the mare also fi nished second in the Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream Park and third in the Caesar’s Wish Stakes at Laurel Park in 2023 bringing her career earnings up to $387,850, with $272,350 being earned in 2023. Intrepid Daydream also was awarded the Champion Older Female,
