May 14 – October 2, 2022 This is the sixth edition of the city of Lille’s summer-long cultural programme known as Lille 3000. For 2022, the theme is Utopia, with a grand opening party, followed by multiple exhibitions, shows, conferences and cultural events staged at venues all across the city. www.lille3000.eu


Nice Carnival Carnaval de Nice February 2023


Historians believe the original incarnation of Nice Carnival was first held in the late 13th century. If this is true then it pre-dates Rio de Janeiro, Venice and New Orleans by hundreds of years. Over a million visitors attend the event every year to see the giant, colourful parades with over 1,000 musicians and dancers, and the

Fécamp Grand’Escale June 29 – July 3, 2022


After the inaugural festival was cancelled due to Covid in 2020, the Fécamp Grand’Escale, in the Normandy port of Fécamp, is now due to launch for the first time in late June this year. Featuring myriad sea-faring vessels from tall ships and traditional yachts to steamships and pleasure boats, this celebration of all things maritime will include regattas, boat visits, exhibitions and workshops, plus live music and lots of fish. www.fecampgrandescale.com
